Getting started

  1. Create your account and confirm your email address.
  2. Choose a plan. Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial.
  3. Pick a widget from the Widget Marketplace and customise it in the editor. You see your changes as you make them.
  4. Save your widget, then open the Installation tab and copy your installation code.
  5. Paste the code into your website (see the guides below). Your widget appears on your site.

New to all this? How it works gives you the big picture first.

Install on your website

Your installation code is a small snippet that looks like this. Always copy your own from the editor, because it contains your widget's ID.

<!-- MyWidgetBox widget --> <script defer src="https://mywidgetbox.co.uk/widgets/whatsapp.js" data-widget-id="YOUR_WIDGET_ID" ></script>

Paste it once, on every page where you want the widget. Most website builders have a "custom code" area that adds it to every page for you. Menu names change from time to time, so if something looks different, look for words like custom code, code injection or footer scripts.

Wix
  1. In your site's dashboard, go to Settings.
  2. Under Development & integrations, click Custom Code.
  3. Click + Add Custom Code and paste in your installation code.
  4. Name it (for example "MyWidgetBox"), choose All pages, and under Place Code in choose Body – end.
  5. Click Apply, then publish your site.

Wix needs your site to be published with a connected domain for custom code to work.

Squarespace
  1. Open Settings, then Advanced, then Code Injection.
  2. Paste your installation code into the Footer box.
  3. Click Save.

Code Injection is usually only available on Business plans and higher, so check your Squarespace plan if you can't find it.

WordPress
  1. Install a free "header and footer scripts" plugin, such as WPCode, from Plugins → Add New.
  2. Open the plugin, add a new snippet, and paste in your installation code.
  3. Set it to load in the site-wide footer, switch it on, and save.

If your theme has its own "footer scripts" setting, you can paste the code there instead.

Shopify
  1. Go to Online Store → Themes.
  2. Next to your live theme, click … → Edit code.
  3. Open theme.liquid and paste your installation code just above the closing </body> tag.
  4. Click Save.
Webflow
  1. Open Site settings → Custom code.
  2. Paste your installation code into Footer code.
  3. Save, then publish your site.

Custom code needs a paid Webflow site plan.

A website you edit yourself (HTML)

Open your page's HTML and paste your installation code just above the closing </body> tag. Upload the page and refresh it in your browser.

Something else, or someone else looks after my website

Send your installation code to whoever manages your website and ask them to add it to every page, just before the closing </body> tag. It takes them a minute.

Your widgets

Can I change my widget after installing it?

Yes. Edit and save it in MyWidgetBox. Your website picks up the change without needing new code.

Where do I find my installation code again?

On your dashboard, click Installation code on the widget, or open the widget in the editor and go to the Installation tab.

Can I use the same widget on more than one page or site?

The same installation code works on every page of your website. Each widget you create counts towards the widget allowance on your plan.

How do I delete a widget?

On your dashboard, open the … menu on the widget and choose delete. Remember to remove its code from your website too.

Plans & billing

How does the free trial work?

Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial. We ask for a card to start it, but you aren't charged until the trial ends. Cancel before then and you won't pay anything.

How do I change my plan?

On your dashboard, click Change plan on the Current plan card, pick a plan and confirm. If you're still on your free trial, the trial carries on and nothing is charged until it ends. If you're already paying, the change is prorated, so you only pay for the time you use.

You can only move to a plan that has room for the widgets you already have. If you have more, delete some first.

Monthly or yearly?

Yearly plans cost ten months for twelve. You can switch between them from Change plan. If you're already paying, switching starts a new billing period.

Can I add more widgets on the Business plan?

Yes. Business includes 10 widgets, and you can add more for £1.29 per extra widget per month (£12.90 a year). On your dashboard, click Add extra widgets. To change plan while you have extras, set extras to 0 first.

How do I update my card or download invoices?

On your dashboard, click Manage billing. It opens our payment provider's secure page where you can update your card, see your invoices and cancel.

How do I cancel?

Click Manage billing on your dashboard and choose Cancel subscription. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you've paid for. Cancelling stops future charges only.

What happens if a payment fails?

We'll try the payment again a few times. If it still can't be taken, your subscription ends and your widgets stop showing on your website. They are not deleted: they stay saved in your account, and they come back when you start a plan again. Update your card under Manage billing as soon as you see a payment problem to avoid any interruption.

My dashboard says a widget is "Paused"

A paused widget isn't showing on your website, but it's still saved. It happens when you have more widgets than your plan includes, or when your plan isn't active. Choose a bigger plan, delete a widget you don't need, or restart your plan, and your widgets switch back on.

Troubleshooting

I've installed my widget but can't see it
  1. Check the code was pasted into your website's custom code area, on the page you're looking at.
  2. Publish your site again if your website builder asks you to.
  3. Hard-refresh the page (Ctrl+Shift+R, or Cmd+Shift+R on a Mac), or try a private window.
  4. Check your dashboard: if the widget shows Paused, see the billing answers above.
  5. Check the widget is switched on for the device you're using. The editor lets you show it on desktop, mobile, or both.

Still stuck? Email us the web address of your page and we'll take a look.

My changes aren't showing on my website

Make sure you saved the widget in the editor, then hard-refresh your website. Changes can take a moment to appear.

The widget appears twice

The installation code has probably been added twice, for example in both the header and the footer. Keep one copy.

Your account

I've forgotten my password

Go to the login page and choose "Forgot password".

How do I close my account?

Cancel your plan under Manage billing, then email us from the address you signed up with and we'll take care of it.
